Ra ra ra Unnecessary Padawan ra ra
Feb. 1st, 2008 02:14 amSo Cinemax is showing the PT in reverse order for some reason tonight (I dozed off around Anakin choking Padme and woke up to him feeding her fruit... it was confusing and a little unnerving), and I got to thinking.
Windu seemed really pissed off that Palpatine had pretty much ordered them to give Anakin a Council seat. I can understand being pissed off about somebody stepping on your toes - especially an outsider to the Order and somebody nobody really trusts all that much. But...
What if Mace was so pissed because this wasn't the first time Palpatine exercised his will about Anakin's assignments in the Order? What if Anakin's new Padawan is not due to the will of the Council, but the will of the Chancellor?
I'm still working out the details in my head, but it would make sense. That way, all the worry about the Council not giving Anakin a Padawan because they don't trust him would be taken care of... In fact, it would further strengthen their distrust of Anakin. You know, he doesn't feel he's being given the rank he deserves so he goes whining to Palpatine and boom, the Chancellor's Office "suggests" you give Knight Skywalker an apprentice.
Then Knight Skywalker goes and fucks it all up, as he's wont to do, and there goes a perfectly good Padawan. Then a few months later the Chancellor's office rings you up again and is like Oh, hay guise, give Anikins a Council seat, k? If you were Windu you'd be going oh hheeeeelllll no, motherfucker.
So, yeah.
