Comedy Central was showing Trey Parker and Matt Stone's weird little series That's My Bush last night. I've seen it before, and I've had this same thought before, but I figured now would be a good time to share it.
For those of you who don't know, That's My Bush is a sitcom parody that takes place in the White House. It's pre-9/11, which adds to the bizarreness of the whole thing. It's obviously meant as a joke, right down to the format, and it has all the classic sitcom archtypes: the sassy maid, the bimbo secretary, the bumbling but well-meaning protagonist, and... the wacky neighbor.
Played, incidentally, by John D'Aquino.
In each episode, the wacky neighbor simply walks into the White House uninvited, raids the Presidential fridge, and watches the Presidential TV while sitting on the Presidential couch. Sometimes he has weird little causes that he talks to Bush about, but mostly he's there to annoy people and provide various one-liners.
It's funny, to me, because... well... wandering into the White House unannounced is pretty much like climbing into the basement windows of the White House, only with more witty banter.
